Our Lakeland Weekend

11th-14th March 2006

Many Stone Quakers and some of their non-Quaker friends spent a memorable few days from 11-14 March at Glenthorne, a Quaker guest house at Grasmere in the Lake District. During the days different groups did different things.  Some walked in the hills, others visited lakeland towns and places of interest or simply marvelled at the landscape. In the evenings we socialised – talked, did jigsaws, read books, and amused ourselves with quizzes. After breakfast each morning we had a short meeting for worship. The weekend turned out to be a very memorable extended weekend, especially for the children, because a heavy snowfall on Saturday night cut us off from ‘civilisation’ and we all had to spend an extra night at Glenthorne
