Quakers have been meeting in Wolverhampton since the late 17th century, but following a general period of decline the Meeting closed in 1806. It was not revived until 1896 when Friends met in rooms situated at the top of Darlington Street where it meets Victoria Street. They continued to meet there until the Meeting House in Horseman Street was opened in 1903. Since then it has grown to be the largest Meeting in Staffordshire. The current Meeting House was opened in 1969 and is the third in Wolverhampton’s history. It has three main rooms plus a kitchen, showering and toilet facilities. The main Meeting Room can be expanded on request for bigger meetings by opening a retractable screen into the adjoining lobby. By use of a similar screen the classroom can be sub-divide into two rooms when required. There is a library with internet access. Along with Wolverhampton Friends there are 26 other user groups making use of the facilities throughout the year. The Meeting House is a fully accessible and user-friendly building on one level with WIFI access.
