Saturday 23rd November, 10.30 am to 3.00 pm
Stafford Meeting House, Foregate Street, Stafford ST16 2PX
This all day study group will be an opportunity to:
- Share our experiences of Meeting for Worship.
- Look back to the origins of Quaker worship and, in this George Fox anniversary year, listen to what he said about this.
- Reflect on how relevant his words are for us as we worship today.
We’ll stop for a bring and share lunch at midday. Please bring some food to share if you can.
All are welcome to attend this event. You don’t have to be a member or attender of a Quaker Meeting.
Background information:
George Fox was a founder of the Religious Society of Friends, commonly known as the Quakers or Friends.
Quaker worship is (mostly) silent or ‘unprogrammed’. In the quiet we wait for a connection. This might be a connection with those around us, with our deepest selves, or with God. We may begin to see the world and our relationships in new ways. During worship somebody may feel moved to speak. This is called ‘spoken ministry’.
