Imagine a world of peace.
Are you concerned about conflicts around the world and wish to show support for all those working for peace?
Lichfield Quaker Meeting invites you to join us at one of our regular Peace Vigils, held at The Friary Remains opposite the former library building. You can join us for all or part of the hour. You are welcome to bring a portable chair. All are welcome.
A spokesperson for Lichfield Quakers said, “A single sign stating ‘imagine peace’ will be on display at the event. We ask people not to bring banners, placards or badges, and not to wear items of support for any particular group.”
Quakers recognise that there is ‘that of God in everyone’, and this leads us to renounce violence and to work actively for peace. Read more about our peace testimony. https://www.quaker.org.uk/our-work/peace

Past vigils
On Saturday 2nd November 2024, Lichfield Quakers held a vigil for peace at The Friary Remains opposite the former library building from 11:00am to 12:00pm. Despite the gloom of the November weather, we were supported by friendly car horns and inquisitive and smiling by passers.
A spokesperson for Lichfield Quakers said, “A single sign stating ‘imagine peace’ was on display at the event.’ One bypasser remarked, ‘That is sometimes hard to do with the present state of the world.’ Quakers are known for not taking the easy option! Two important qualities to survive in today’s world are hope and imagination. Hope to believe we can change the world and imagination to find ways to do so. Quaker Faith and Practice 23;85 paraphrased.
We’ve continued to meet regularly.
